Salary Range: $77,000 - $117,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
  • Design and implement laser weld tooling and fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot laser welding equipment and process issues on the production floor.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for weld defects.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
  • Establish and maintain process documentation, including work instructions and control plans.
  • Perform laser weld validations and qualifications in accordance with industry standards.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Welding, or related field)
  • 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes and equipment within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot laser welding parameters and processes
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy and material science, particularly as it relates to welding dissimilar materials
  • Experience with CAD software and ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Familiarity with quality control methods and statistical process control (SPC) for welding applications

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with fiber laser welding systems.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot robotic weld cells.
  • Knowledge of material science, particularly related to metal alloys and their weldability.
  • CAD proficiency for fixture design and analysis.
