Salary Range: $83,000 - $123,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
  • Design and implement laser welding fixtures and tooling.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding defects.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
  • Conduct material characterization and mechanical testing of laser welded joints.
  • Generate and maintain detailed documentation for welding processes and procedures.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years experience with laser welding processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in weld joint design, fixture design, and process optimization for various materials (e.g., stainless steel, aluminum, exotic alloys).
  • Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and their application to laser welding defects and quality control.
  • Proficiency in using metrology tools and data analysis for process validation and troubleshooting.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software for fixture design and analysis.
  • Understanding of metallurgy and material science related to laser welding of various alloys (e.g., stainless steels, aluminum, titanium).
  • Proficiency in programming and operating industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka, ABB) for laser welding applications.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification for process optimization and defect reduction.
  • Familiarity with vision systems and sensors for weld inspection and quality control.
