Salary Range: $68,000 - $107,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Norton Shores seeking Design Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine product designs, ensuring manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
• Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, drawings, and specifications for production.
• Conduct design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, quality, R&D) to optimize designs.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate design performance and integrity.
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on design requirements and industry standards.
• Troubleshoot design-related issues during prototyping and production, implementing corrective actions.
• Generate and manage engineering change orders (ECOs) to document and control design modifications.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in product design within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining).
• Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with generative design tools.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles.
• Proficiency in a programming language (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for automation or data analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers or lead small project teams.
• Experience with simulation and analysis software beyond basic FEA (e.g., CFD, DEM).
