Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive dimensional and visual inspections of first article parts and assemblies.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine inspection requirements.
• Utilize a wide range of precision measuring instruments, including CMM, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Generate detailed First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with industry standards (e.g., AS9102).
• Identify and document non-conformances, communicating findings to engineering and production teams.
• Verify material certifications, special process compliance, and other critical attributes.
• Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment, ensuring accuracy and proper functionality.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience conducting First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with industry standards (e.g., AS9102, PPAP).
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Expertise in operating a variety of precision measuring equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, optical comparators).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, fabrication, assembly) and their impact on product quality.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and inspection reporting.

Bonus Qualifications

• CMM programming experience (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso)
• Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certification
• Proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies
• Advanced GD&T certification (e.g., ASME GDTP Technologist)
