Salary Range: $79,000 - $119,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement welding procedures and specifications to ensure product quality and integrity.
  • Select appropriate welding processes, equipment, and consumables for various manufacturing applications.
  • Troubleshoot welding-related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct welding training and qualification for welders and technicians.
  • Oversee quality control of welding operations, including inspections and testing.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to optimize product design for weldability.
  • Research and evaluate new welding technologies and materials to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and safety regulations related to welding.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Inspector, Certified Welding Educator).
  • Extensive knowledge of welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, FCAW) and their application in manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in welding procedure specification (WPS) development, qualification, and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, material properties, and heat treatment as they relate to welding.
  • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and interpretation of results.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with automated welding processes (e.g., robotic, laser, electron beam).
  • - Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and interpretation.
  • - Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and their application to welding.
  • - Certification in a relevant welding inspection program (e.g., CWI, CSWIP).
  • - Experience with welding simulation software for process optimization.
