Salary Range: $86,000 - $126,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Design and implement laser weld tooling and fixtures.
• Troubleshoot laser welding equipment and process issues.
• Conduct root cause analysis for weld defects and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams on new product introductions and continuous improvement.
• Define and implement process control measures to ensure weld quality and consistency.
• Specify and procure new laser welding equipment and related peripherals.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years experience with laser welding processes and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in weld joint design, metallurgy, and material science for various alloys.
• Proficiency in using metrology tools and destructive/non-destructive testing methods for weld quality assessment.
• Experience with process optimization, statistical process control (SPC), and root cause analysis.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with advanced laser welding techniques (e.g., remote welding, wobble welding, scan welding).
• Proficiency in programming and operating robotic welding systems.
• Familiarity with optical metrology and in-situ monitoring for weld quality control.
• Background in materials science, particularly with high-strength alloys and dissimilar material joining.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and optimize laser welding processes for new product introduction.
