Salary Range: $83,000 - $123,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Design and implement laser weld tooling and fixtures.
• Troubleshoot laser welding equipment and process issues.
• Conduct root cause analysis for weld defects and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability of components.
• Perform process capability studies and statistical analysis on weld data.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions and control plans.
• Provide technical support and training to manufacturing personnel.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven expertise in laser weld parameter development, optimization, and process control.
• Strong understanding of metallurgical principles related to welding, including material selection and failure analysis.
• Experience with various laser welding technologies (e.g., fiber, YAG, CO2) and associated equipment.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for fixture design and part analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for weld defects.
• Familiarity with various laser types (fiber, Nd:YAG, CO2) and their applications in welding.
• Knowledge of material science and metallurgy, specifically related to weldability of different alloys.
