Salary Range: $57,000 - $91,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, prove, and optimize CNC programs for 3-axis and 5-axis mills using CAM software.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters for various materials and part geometries.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications to determine machining strategies and processes.
  • Perform post-processing and simulation of CNC programs to identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, machinists, and quality personnel to ensure efficient and accurate production.
  • Troubleshoot and debug CNC programs on the machine, making adjustments to optimize performance and part quality.
  • Document setup sheets, tooling lists, and operational instructions for manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM, Fusion 360) for generating toolpaths.
  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming for 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
  • Experience with tooling selection, fixture design, and process optimization for manufacturing efficiency.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various materials (e.g., aluminum, steel, plastics) and their machining characteristics.
  • Familiarity with CNC machine operation and setup, including offset adjustments and first-article inspections.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CAM software beyond basic G-code generation (e.g., advanced toolpath optimization, simulation).
  • Proficiency in a secondary programming language (e.g., Python, VBA) for automation or data analysis.
  • Familiarity with metrology tools and techniques for in-process inspection and quality control.
  • Knowledge of DNC systems and best practices for managing and transferring CNC programs.
