Salary Range: $56,000 - $90,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for lathe machines using CAM software and manual G-code.
  • Select appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, and workholding methods for various materials and part geometries.
  • Interpret engineering blueprints, CAD models, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
  • Perform program simulations and dry runs to verify accuracy, prevent collisions, and ensure quality.
  • Collaborate with machinists and engineers to troubleshoot machining issues and continuously improve processes.
  • Create and maintain detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and program documentation.
  • Optimize existing programs for increased efficiency, reduced cycle times, and improved part quality.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in CNC lathe programming.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360) for 2-axis and multi-axis lathe programming.
  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code manual programming and editing.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of tooling selection, cutting parameters, and material properties for various metals.
  • Experience with machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC lathes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-axis lathe programming (e.g., Y-axis, sub-spindle, live tooling)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) for fixture or tooling design
  • Familiarity with DNC systems and networked manufacturing environments
  • Background in manual machining or tool & die making
