Field Service Technician | Portage, MI

Salary Range: $53,000 - $85,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment and machinery on-site.
• Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Diagnose complex technical issues using schematics, diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
• Provide technical support and training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Document service activities, including repairs, parts used, and time spent, accurately.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while working in various manufacturing environments.
• Manage and maintain service vehicle inventory and tools efficiently.

Recommended Qualifications

• Associate's degree in electronics, mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery or automation systems.
• Proven ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams.
• Strong understanding of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and industrial control systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively to customer sites.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD software for interpreting schematics.
• Certifications in specific manufacturing equipment (e.g., robotics, PLCs).
• Ability to speak a second language relevant to the manufacturing client base.
• Proven track record of contributing to process improvement initiatives.
