Salary Range: $58,000 - $88,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Kentwood that are seeking skilled Lead Machinists. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and are looking for professionals who can contribute effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and train junior machinists on equipment operation and safety protocols.
• Program, set up, and operate advanced CNC machinery for complex part production.
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues on machining equipment.
• Develop and optimize machining processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Inspect finished products to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.

Recommended Qualifications

• 7-10 years of experience in CNC machining and manual machining.
• Proven ability to program, set up, and operate a variety of machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders).
• Strong understanding of G-code, M-code, and CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks).
• Expertise in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including training and mentoring junior machinists.
• In-depth knowledge of various metals, alloys, and cutting tools.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software for design and programming
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior machinists and apprentices
• Certification in a specialized machining technique (e.g., CNC programming, EDM, welding)
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
