EHS Manager | East Lansing, MI
Salary Range: $83,000 - $128,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of preventative measures for EHS-related incidents.
- Manage hazardous waste programs, including proper storage, labeling, and disposal according to regulatory requirements.
- Oversee EHS training programs for all employees, covering topics such as hazard communication, emergency response, and machine guarding.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations to integrate EHS considerations into new equipment design, facility modifications, and process changes.
- Maintain and update EHS recordkeeping, including permits, licenses, training records, and incident reports.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and managing EHS programs and management systems.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional EHS certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred.
Bonus Qualifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and their application to EHS.
- Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish.
- Demonstrated experience with sustainability initiatives and reporting.
- Advanced certifications in specific EHS areas (e.g., CIH, CHMM, REM).
