Materials Manager | Spring Lake, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $122,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement materials management strategies to optimize inventory levels.
  • Oversee procurement of raw materials, components, and finished goods, negotiating favorable terms with suppliers.
  • Manage warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and outbound logistics.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control systems to ensure accuracy and minimize waste.
  • Collaborate with production planning to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Lead and mentor a team of materials planners, buyers, and warehouse personnel.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze material usage and forecast future demand to prevent shortages or overstock.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in materials management or a similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience with ERP systems for inventory control and production planning
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and their application
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred).
  • Proficiency in advanced data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies and their application in materials management (e.g., IoT, AI for demand forecasting).
  • Proven ability to manage and optimize global supply chains.
