Salary Range: $82,000 - $122,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Kalamazoo seeking Laser Weld Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Design and implement tooling and fixtures for laser welding applications.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding defects.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
• Conduct material characterization and metallurgical analysis of welded components.
• Establish and maintain process documentation, including work instructions and control plans.
• Provide technical support and training to production personnel on laser welding techniques.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes and equipment within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in laser welding metallurgy, joint design, and defect analysis.
• Proficiency in programming and operating industrial laser welding systems, preferably with experience in various laser types (e.g., fiber, YAG, CO2).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing quality systems, process control, and statistical analysis.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with fiber laser welding systems.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles.
• Ability to perform basic metallurgical analysis of welds (e.g., cross-sectioning, micro-hardness testing).
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for fixture design or analysis.
