Inspection Technician | Plainwell, MI

Salary Range: $45,000 - $68,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Plainwell seeking Inspection Technicians who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify product specifications.
• Document inspection results accurately and thoroughly, including non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks to ensure adherence to engineering drawings and quality standards.
• Identify and tag non-conforming materials, initiating the material review board (MRB) process.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures.
• Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to quality control processes and procedures.

Recommended Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience in quality control or inspection within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to use various precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM).
• Strong understanding of GD&T principles.
• Experience with non-conforming material processes and root cause analysis.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles.
• Ability to interpret and work with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Certification in a relevant field (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector, NDT certifications).
• Basic understanding of programming for automated inspection equipment.
