OVERVIEW OF POSITION

We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Category Manager to join our dynamic team at The Petshop. You must have a commercial mindset and full comprehension of marketing and sales principles. The goal is to increase sales and profitability of business to drive sustainable growth, through managing the assortment we offer, the price positioning we set and the promotions we will run.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a keen understanding of seasonal themes and trends. They will be tasked with negotiating participation and financial support from brands for each promotion, ensuring that our promotional activities are not only profitable but also enhance our brand partnerships. This role is pivotal in driving revenue and absolute margin growth through well-planned and executed strategies.

ROLES & RESPOSIBILITIES

Revenue Management: Responsible for the balance between revenue and margin, working with levers like price, promotion and mix to achieve company's targets on top line and profitability.
Promotion Calendar: Develop and manage the comprehensive promotional calendar for both stores and e-commerce, taking into consideration channel specifics and brand/product/channel elasticity in sales to drive more revenue and absolute margin versus the baseline.
Sell Promo Spaces and Support to Brands: Negotiate and secure financial support from brands for promotional activities, including the collection of credit note post-event and internal communication with finance for proper reconciliation.
Assortment Review: Conduct thorough category analysis to understand internal performance of categories and brands, and identify potential gaps in product availability; Establish assortment review process, from analysis to actions, in a way we manage each category in our product range with a specific approach.
Internal Alignment: Collaboration with sales (e-commerce and stores) and marketing teams for the review, sign-off and execution of initiatives
Post-Event Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of promotional events to assess their impact and review future strategies.
Price Review: Recommend pricing adjustments based on analytical findings to optimize profitability; establish a process for review & approve price changes.
Reporting and Recommendations: Prepare detailed reports summarizing category performance, sales trends, and key insights.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATION

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and trends.
  • Experience in developing and managing promotional calendars.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and build relationships with brands and vendors.
  • Understanding of sales elasticity and financial impact of promotions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
