The client is a high-growth fibre delivery organisation that supports major US network operators. The company delivers large-scale FTTH planning, as-built, and design services across multiple US states and operates existing EPC and O&M functions.
The Role: Head of FTTH Planning Operations (Managing Director Level)
This Managing Director-level leadership position exists to run the FTTH Planning Division as a structured profit centre while scaling the function from 15 to 60 professionals. The role is responsible for managing production output of 30,000+ HHP per month, ensuring SLA compliance, and protecting margins through structured KPI dashboards and pod-based team structures. It contributes to the business by integrating S197 planning teams and scaling capacity in alignment with US demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage 8+ years of experience in FTTH and fibre planning to lead a 40-60 person division.
- Deliver consistent production output of 30,000+ HHP per month while maintaining rework below 7%.
- Operate the Planning Division as a profit centre by protecting gross margins and managing cost per PPU.
- Oversee as-built and design teams using a PPU-based productivity model and stable output forecasting.
- Implement and enforce structured quality workflows and QA gating to eliminate client escalations.
- Structure planners into pod-based teams and integrate S197 transfer teams.
- Report margin performance per client and state using Smartsheet and BI tools.
- Maintain over 95% on-time delivery across multi-state US operational expansion.
About You
- 8+ years of experience in FTTH / fibre planning.
- Experience managing 20+ engineering or planning professionals.
- Strong knowledge of US FTTH design standards.
- Commercially literate regarding margin, cost control, and utilisation.
- Proven capability to scale teams sustainably.
- Process-driven, KPI-oriented, and operationally structured.
- Comfortable with Smartsheet, BI tools, and operational systems.
- Ability to work EST hours on-site in Melrose Arch.
