Job Title: Refrigeration Cooling Engineer

Salary: R30,000 R35,000 per month (depending on experience)

Role Overview

A leading company in the energy-efficient cooling and refrigeration industry is seeking a Refrigeration Cooling Engineer to join its technical team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of cold storage and pre-cooling systems, ensuring top-tier performance and client satisfaction across all projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and service refrigeration and cooling systems at client sites

• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize system downtime

• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to HVAC and refrigeration equipment

• Collaborate with the project and engineering team to ensure quality installations

• Train clients on proper usage and maintenance of installed systems

• Prepare detailed service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records

• Adhere to all health and safety standards and protocols

• Provide on-site or remote technical support as needed

Requirements

• 35 years experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration systems

• Trade certification in Refrigeration (NQF Level 4 or higher preferred)

• Valid Safe Gas Handling Certificate

• In-depth knowledge of cold room, HVAC, and solar cooling systems

• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Based in Johannesburg, with willingness to travel to rural and peri-urban areas

• Valid drivers license required

Desirable Skills

• Experience in agricultural or fresh produce industries

• Familiarity with energy-efficient or off-grid cooling technologies

• Exposure to IoT-based monitoring systems
