About the position: Engineering Superintendent - Location: Luaxe, Angola
Purpose:
Oversee and improve resources, processes, and systems to ensure plant availability within the legal and engineering framework, ensuring efficient processing and recovery of diamonds.
Key Responsibilities and Functions:
- Implement Maintenance and Procurement Strategy, Business Plan & Objectives
- Manage optimal plant availability
- Assist with the development and implementation of production targets
- Human Resources Development to improve individual performance and ensure succession planning, training, and skills transfer
- Submit and motivate capital/strategic expenses to the Plant Manager
- Compile and implement Engineering Section budget
- Implement and manage maintenance planning system
- Manage provider relations
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and internal policies/procedures
- Implement Health & Safety compliance standards
- Compile and submit relevant reports to Plant Manager
- Oversee the utilisation and availability of resources for plant maintenance
- Maintain discipline in the workplace (e.g. absenteeism, timekeeping, misconduct)
- Manage workplace climate effectively
- Comply with safety, health, security, and environmental standards
- Possess thorough knowledge of diamond plants, DMS, and Recovery circuits
- Apply engineering best practices and standards
- Display strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Exhibit strong auditing abilities
- Demonstrate deep understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the mining and processing sector
- Capable of working under pressure and leading a team of professionals and department heads
- Possess applicable financial, technical, and legal knowledge
- Understand engineering standards and maintenance processes/principles
- Competent in basic computer applications and MS Office
- Display coaching abilities and encourage teamwork
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum: N6 plus/or trade test (or equivalent T4, BSc) through a recognised institution; Code 8 drivers license
- Desired: As above, plus Government Certificate of Competency and ECSA Professional Registration
- Experience Required:
- Minimum: 5 years in a DMS and Recovery/separation technology environment, with at least 3 years at senior management level
- Desired: 8 years in a similar environment, with at least 5 years at senior management level
- Clear criminal record required
Additional Requirements:
- Must have a valid passport
- Must have a Yellow Fever certificate
- Police Clearance (no criminal record allowed)
- Must be healthy enough to pass a mining medical
