Junior Designer

JOB TITLE: Junior Designer
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTING TO: Design Team Leader

JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of this role is to design high-quality, impactful, and compliant fire protection systems that deliver value-for-money solutions for clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

CAD Design

• Develop CAD designs based on specifications, ensuring adherence to design standards and cost-effectiveness.
• Calculate hydraulic requirements to optimize pipe sizing while considering water supply parameters and limitations.
• Conduct site measurements for existing buildings, gathering necessary details to support accurate designs.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, verifying accuracy and completeness before submission.
• Manage personal workload by prioritizing tasks in alignment with project deadlines.
• Collaborate on large-scale design projects, ensuring alignment with overall project principles and cost management.
• Compile fabrication lists and submit for approval.
• Participate in post-implementation profit analysis, reviewing design assumptions and actual project outcomes to improve future profitability.
• Continuously enhance technical knowledge in fire protection CAD design and compliance.

Design Administration

• Maintain project records, updating documentation and databases as required.
• Generate design reports, ensuring timely submission in the correct format.
• Organize and store designs according to company filing conventions.
• Submit required documentation for inspections, ensuring compliance and addressing any queries.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Qualification in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• ASIB / IFE Certification or similar preferred.
• In the absence of formal qualifications, significant relevant experience will be considered.
• At least 1 year of technical CAD design experience in the building or construction industry preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand building-related drawings.
