About the job Construction Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals and procedures.
- Oversee that the project is constructed and documented in accordance with the contract documents and good engineering practices.
- Provide technical support to Project Director and be responsible for developing and maintaining project cost/change controls, and project budget and accounting records.
- Performs change order estimating and assists the Project Manager in change order negotiations.
- Coordinates and monitors schedule and in compliance with codes, within time, cost, quality assurance, safety and environmental conformance to contribute to the efficiency of projects in the execution phase.
- Managing and reviewing the progress of contractors construction schedules.
- Review weekly and monthly reports on the status and progress of the contracts, including project costs and potential changes.
- Report the status of projects to Management.
- Attend all progress and quality client meetings as and when required.
- A safety leader through example, words, and compliance.
- Oversee construction quality assurance.
- Capable for making sound and accurate judgments based on available information.
- Oversee and supervise on-site construction and installation of civil works.
- Supervise and monitor civil subcontractors in order to meet technical, quality and compliance requirements as set forth in civil drawings, specifications and schedule.
- Secure the civil works implementation of contractual obligation from the contractor.
- Detect possible civil works quality problems prior or during the works and proceed in problem solving by coordinating with Site Manager.
- Create reports to monitor and track civil activities relating to project schedule through daily and weekly plans, logs and reports.
- Assist on-site construction team in resolving technical or engineering issues with vendors and contractors relating to civil disciplines.
- Assess and determine the actual progress on site based on approved schedule.
- Responsible for all safety related construction activities; follows approved safety specifications formally records non-conformance and attends all relevant safety meetings.
- Able to have a conscientious attitude toward controlling job costs
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
- Bachelors or Master of Engineering in Civil will be an advantage.
- Additional degree or diploma in Construction Management is preferable.
- 12-15 years of project construction and engineering experience required.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer at with recognised professional bodies.
- Registered with a Project and Construction Management Professional body as a Professional Contracts Manager.
- Working knowledge of Build smart and CCS.
- Working knowledge of JBCC, GCC, FIDIC and NEC forms of contract.
- Experience with large infrastructure construction sites and mega multi-year projects.
- Knowledge of construction and engineering related processes, as well as industry practices.
- Knowledge of the roles and interdependence between the contractor, designer, owner, and construction manager.
- Effective computer skills including proficient use of Word, Excel, and Outlook and PowerPoint software required, and project management.
