About the job Safety Officer
Purpose
Ensure compliance with SHE policies, procedures, and regulations while promoting a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Business Protection & Compliance
- Monitor and ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Maintain records and ensure legal requirements are met.
Health & Safety Management
- Provide SHE consulting services and training.
- Investigate incidents and implement preventative measures.
- Enforce compliance with safety procedures.
Environmental & Energy Management
- Conduct environmental assessments and implement improvements.
- Support energy efficiency initiatives.
Risk & People Management
- Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement controls.
- Support SHE representatives and drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Grade 12 (Matric) and a National Diploma in Safety Management (preferred) or SAMTRAC.
- 3+ years experience in a manufacturing or related field.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of OHS Act, ISO 9001/14001/45001.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
