Technical Sales Representative, Johannesburg

Job Purpose

The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue growth by promoting, selling, and supporting a specialist range of machine cutting, portable machining, and industrial tooling solutions. The role focuses on delivering technically informed, solution-driven sales across industries such as fabrication, engineering, construction, energy, plumbing, shipbuilding, mining, and heavy industry.

Product Portfolio Responsibility

The role will focus on selling and supporting the following key product lines:

  • Karnasch Cutters – High-performance annular cutters, hole saws, milling tools, and industrial cutting solutions
  • REMS Plumbing Equipment – Pipe threading machines, cutting tools, pressing systems, and installation equipment
  • TIG Brush Weld Cleaning Equipment – Electrochemical weld cleaning, passivation, and surface finishing solutions
  • Promotech Magnetic-Based Drills – Magnetic drilling machines, beveling machines, and automation solutions
  • SFE Pipe Stands & Handling Equipment – Pipe stands, rollers, and pipe handling systems
  • Climax Portable Machining Tools – On-site portable machining, boring, milling, flange facing, and alignment equipment

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in technical sales, preferably in industrial tools, machining, or capital equipment
  • Strong understanding of machine cutting, portable machining, or industrial tooling
  • Ability to read technical specifications, drawings, and application requirements
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong negotiation and closing ability
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable working independently
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel

Desirable

  • Experience selling one or more of the following: magnetic drills, annular cutters, pipe tools, portable machining, or weld cleaning systems
  • Trade background (fitter & turner, boilermaker, plumber, machinist, or similar)
  • Experience working with distributors, contractors, or OEM clients
  • CRM system experience
