The Role: Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer
As a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer, you will focus on in-house design and development while contributing to the successful delivery of engineering projects. This is a fast-paced role that combines advanced engineering design, project execution, and vendor management, offering the chance to grow into a subject matter expert while mentoring junior colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee multiple projects and provide guidance to colleagues
Mentor junior mechanical engineers and technicians
Shadow senior engineers and technicians to gain in-depth knowledge of offshore systems and well control equipment
Conduct in-house design and development (70% of role), including strength calculations (first principles and FEA/Simulation), 3D CAD modelling and drawings (SolidWorks), and generating manufacturing data packs (BOMs, QCPs, work instructions, manuals)
Manage vendor relationships during fabrication phases
Participate in inspection and maintenance processes for practical exposure
Manage projects (30% of role) from inception to closeout including quotations, procurement, logistics, scheduling, reporting, and databook submission
Provide technical advice, monitor compliance with codes and standards (ASME, API, ABS, DNV), and draft new procedures where required
Ensure all work is performed in a safe, compliant, and high-quality manner
About You

University Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

3 - 6 years experience in a relevant engineering environment (heavy engineering/offshore/subsea preferred)

Strong interest in design and proven SolidWorks expertise (3D CAD modelling/drawing)

Skilled in strength calculations and FEA/simulation (SolidWorks Simulation advantageous)

Familiarity with Mathcad, MATLAB, or similar engineering software beneficial

Knowledge of fabrication, welding, and machining processes

Exposure to ASME VIII, API, and classification society rules (ABS, DNV) desirable

Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams) with excellent written and verbal English communication

Organised, safety-conscious, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
