The Role: Accountant

As a qualified Accountant, you'll be the main point of contact for a portfolio of UK clients,  preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, tax returns, and VAT/CIS submissions, while providing actionable advice on cash flow and tax planning. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance, spotting opportunities, and driving better business decisions for clients. This is a fully remote position (from South Africa), with regular contact with clients and internal teams in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Minimum 5 years experience in an accountancy practice or advisory agency
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts, CT600 returns, VAT returns, and CIS submissions
  • Produce management accounts and forecasts for client reporting
  • Liaise directly with HMRC on behalf of clients
  • Ensure all filing deadlines are met accurately and on time
  • Advise clients on cash flow, profitability, and tax planning
  • Review work from junior accountants and bookkeepers
  • Support clients with optimising cloud-based accounting platforms (Xero, Dext, Xenon, Syft)

About You

  • ACCA qualified (essential)
  • 5+ years experience in UK-focused accountancy roles
  • Deep understanding of UK accounting standards, VAT, CIS, and corporation tax
  • Direct experience dealing with HMRC and UK statutory compliance
  • Proficient in Xero (certifications advantageous) and ideally QuickBooks
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication,  neutral English accent required
  • Commercially savvy, with a proactive and client-first mindset
