The Role: Senior Draughtsman
This role exists to strengthen the mechanical design and draughting capability within a growing project team. The Senior Draughtsman will play a key role in designing, detailing, and supporting the delivery of water and wastewater treatment plants, from concept through to fabrication and installation. The focus is on hands-on design work, close collaboration with engineers and project teams, and contributing meaningfully to technically robust, buildable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
3–5+ years relevant draughting experience, with involvement in mechanical design projects
Design layouts for water and wastewater treatment plants
Develop piping isometrics, including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Create 3D models of structural steel, piping systems, and sheet metal components
Prepare accurate manufacturing, fabrication, and installation drawings
Design sheet metal components and produce fabrication-ready documentation
Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BoMs)
Assist with equipment selection and contribute to mechanical equipment R&D
Support project planning, coordination, scheduling, and progress reporting
Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, production teams, and site personnel
Ensure drawings and documentation comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements
Participate in site meetings and inspections to ensure alignment with design intent
About You
3–5+ years experience in mechanical draughting, preferably within water or wastewater projects
Mechanical Engineering degree or diploma, or equivalent practical experience
Strong experience in mechanical design and assemblies
Proficient in AutoCAD or BricsCAD, with SolidWorks experience preferred
Solid understanding of pipe routing, sheet metal design, and manufacturing drawings
Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills
Able to work independently, manage deadlines, and collaborate effectively across disciplines
