Salary: R25,000 CTC

About the Role
Our Client is looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper who can operate with minimal assistance and take full ownership of the bookkeeping function. This role is suited to a confident, detail-driven finance professional with strong technical knowledge and several years of hands-on experience.
You will be responsible for full-function bookkeeping up to trial balance, including VAT, payroll, reconciliations, and audit support. Accuracy, independence, and compliance are critical in this role.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric with Accounting
- Advanced Diploma in Accounting / Bookkeeping / Finance (essential)
- 3–5+ years experience in a similar bookkeeping role
- 3–5 years payroll experience
- SAIPA, ICB, or similar professional body (completed or in progress – advantageous)
- Strong knowledge of South African legislation (VAT Act, PAYE, BCEA, etc.)
- Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision
- Experience in a medium-sized or multi-entity environment (advantageous)
Systems & Software
- Strong working knowledge of Xero and Sage Online (essential)
- Experience with Pastel or similar accounting systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Maintain and reconcile accounting records up to Trial Balance
- Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Maintain cashbooks, general ledger, and fixed asset register
- Update and manage asset registers
- Handle payroll processing, journals, and reporting
- Calculate and submit VAT201 returns and assist with SARS reviews
- Submit PAYE and other statutory returns
- Assist with month-end and year-end processes
- Prepare and maintain audit files and liaise with auditors
- Collaborate with external stakeholders including SARS and auditors
