Analyst

 Job Description:

Purpose:

Lead cost accounting efforts. Analyze profitability and maintain all areas of standard cost maintenance.

Essential Job Functions

  • Analyze the cost of material, labor, fixed overhead and variable overhead. Analyze material and labor variances in costs and develop strategies to reduce variances. Analyze changes in profitability of products, determine root causes and corrective actions. Report results to Controller for implementation.
  • External Audit Prep: Analysis of costs through various price tests developed internally or externally from auditors. Develop other schedules for external auditors as required.
  • System Development: Participate in system changes and enhancements in the changing EDP environment.
  • Planning, Forecasting and Budget Analysis: Develop and analyze estimated costs for future planning. Analyze costs differences between make vs. buy parts.
  • Develop policies and procedures for new or improved methods of running the cost accounting department.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education/Skills/Experience:

  • Four-year college degree in accounting or finance. MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum two years of analyst experience one year cost accounting. 
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting policies and procedures and internal accounting controls.
  • Excellent PC skills including experience with Microsoft Office and database programs. SAP experience strongly preferred. Super user of MS Excel.
