About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated team player who is passionate about turning raw data into actionable trading insight and PnL for our Trading Team.

Our preferred candidates should have built up their expertise working at either a large trading house, oil major, oil consultancy e.g. Energy Aspects or perhaps an organization such as the International Energy Agency.

The candidates expertise should be in a) crude oil market analysis b) distillate markets analysis and/or c) light ends market analysis.

For the right candidate, success in the role will see you transition to a leadership role with responsibility to develop your own team of oil market analysts. Further, discretionary pay will form a significant proportion of total compensation.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Construct, develop and maintain a fundamentals mass balance(s) for Global Crude, Lights Ends or Distillate Markets.
  • Design, build and improve data-driven modelling capability for key supply and demand drivers e.g. planned and unplanned refinery outages, trade flows, demand, etc.
  • Conduct analysis of internal data flows and external reports to assist generation of your POV (Point of View).
  • Communicate your POV to the Trading Team and recommend short and medium trading strategies.
  • Build a network of contacts across refining, supply and trading and freight markets to augment market intelligence.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven ability to build fundamental supply and demand models.
  • Deep knowledge of oil refining processes and refinery margin calculations.
  • Outstanding communicator.
  • Commercial acumen i.e. market analysis improves trading decisions and PnL generation.
  • Strong coding skills.
