Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Remote Construction Takeoff Specialist to join our remote team. In this role, you will help support the bidding and estimating process by reviewing construction plans, measuring quantities, and preparing comprehensive takeoff documentation. Your work will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate and competitive bids for upcoming projects. The ideal candidate has experience in construction estimating or takeoffs, strong English communication skills, proficiency with AutoCAD and Excel, and can work independently in a fast-paced remote environment aligned to Eastern Standard Time (EST). Your expertise will play a vital role in helping us produce precise and competitive bids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Takeoffs:
- Review and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Measure and calculate quantities of materials (e.g., square footage of drywall, amount of concrete, lumber, etc.).
- Prepare detailed lists of required materials, dimensions, and estimated labor.
- Leveling Sheets:
- Create or update leveling sheets (spreadsheets or templates) that summarize takeoff data.
- Provide clear, organized data to help estimators and project managers prepare accurate bids.
- AutoCAD:
- Read and navigate AutoCAD drawings to understand design intent and specifications.
- (Optional but preferred) Make basic edits or markups to AutoCAD files if needed.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with estimators and project managers to clarify scope, answer questions, and ensure alignment on takeoff details.
- Assist in identifying omissions, conflicts, or potential issues in construction documents before bidding.
- Maintain organized records and documentation of takeoff files, revisions, and historical data for future references.
- Perform other duties related to the position.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Advanced level of English (written and spoken).
- Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written) with the ability to communicate with cross-functional and internal leaders.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English (essential for reading complex documents and team collaboration).
- Availability to work Eastern Standard Time (EST), New York time.
- Prior experience with construction estimating or performing takeoffs.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (or similar drafting software).
- Skilled in using spreadsheets for documentation and leveling sheets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, especially when working with plans, layouts, and cuts.
- Must be organized and have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Detail-oriented mindset and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Must have a Windows computer (Windows 10 or newer) that is less than 4 years old.
- Two monitors and a high-speed fiber network or Starlink internet.
