Senior Tax Accountant
The Headhunter LTD Albania, daughter company of The Headhunter Group, for its prestigious client operating in the field of Construction, is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to oversee and manage the full scope of accounting and tax compliance functions. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and providing strategic support to senior management in a dynamic construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, control, and record all accounting operations to ensure reliable and accurate financial data
- Oversee all finance and accounting operations including tax and regulatory compliance
- Assist and act as a liaison for tax audits and external audit processes
- Follow up on all tax issue reporting and liaise with the legal department on tax-related cases
- Coordinate and suggest improvements to automated accounting and management information systems
- Serve as a certifying specialist for all company accounts and obligating documents
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax regulations, and group reporting requirements
- Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards
- Set up and manage project accounting for different projects and activity locations
- Work directly with company management to identify key business issues and recommend solutions
- Develop and implement accounting and internal control procedures
- Assist the CFO in matters related to budgeting
- Supervise and lead the accounting staff
- Perform other duties as required by the Finance Director
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; Master's degree or CPA/ACCA certification is a strong advantage
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role
- Experience in the construction industry or project-based accounting is preferred
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS and local tax legislation
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with management and legal teams
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office (especially Excel)
- Good command of English
