About the job Mechatronics / Electrical Engineer (Altium Designer / PCB)

Good Job! Good Life!

The HeadHunter Group is an innovative Staffing and Recruiting Company with HQ in US, Dover, Delaware, operating in Canada, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Serbia, Cyprus, Greece. We offer the newest mentality in Staffing industry and our core business are Candidates and Clients.

We are looking for an Engineering All-Rounder with experience in developing Power Distribution Units (PDUs) for commercial and special vehicles within the Low Voltage (up to 60VDC) range. The role includes PCB design, customer requirement analysis, and ensuring the electrical system is reliable, safe, and manufacturable (DfM).

This position offers significant development potential, with the opportunity to actively shape various aspects of the design process.

Main Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer requirements: current, voltage, installation conditions, and environmental factors.
  • Review and analyze the Bill of Materials (BOM) and ensure compatibility of electrical and mechanical components.
  • Transfer customer schematics into Altium Designer (ECAD).
  • Define PCB dimensions and component placement according to project requirements.
  • Evaluate thermal interactions between components and the PCB.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DfM) principles.
  • Perform PCB layout design using Altium Designer following IPC-2521 standards.
  • Work with automotive relays, fuses, connectors (JPT, MCP, Minifit, etc.), and limited SMD components.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering (MCAD) teams to ensure proper ECADMCAD integration.

Nice to Have HV PDU Development Experience

For projects involving High Voltage (up to 1500VDC), it is a strong advantage if the candidate has experience with:

  • Developing main power distribution systems for electric vehicles (battery motor inverter charger).
  • Selecting and analyzing HV components such as HV fuses, contactors, and connectors.
  • Applying IEC 60664 standards for insulation coordination up to 1.5 kVDC.
  • Strong understanding of Creepage and Clearance requirements.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Detail-oriented and capable of understanding ECADMCAD system interactions.
  • Able to see the bigger picture rather than focusing only on deep electronic circuit design.
  • Experience with automotive wiring harnesses and vehicle electrical systems is a strong plus.
  • No mechanical component development required, but must be able to correctly select and apply them.

Alternative Role: PCB Layouter (LV PDUs)

For a more routine-focused position, the role may include:

  • Transferring schematics into Altium Designer.
  • Defining PCB size and arranging component placement.
  • Conducting reviews and preparing final layout documentation.
  • Applying IPC-2521 standards in PCB design.

Note: Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
