                                               National Director

The mission of the position:

The National Director leads, manages, and develops the National Association (NA) as its chief executive, ensuring effective delivery of programs and services to NGO organizations vision, mission, values, and strategy. By seeking government subsidies and funding, international/national grants as well as fundraising he/she maximizes the financial self-sufficiency of the Nation according to the potential in the country.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic planning processes to ensure sustainability and relevance of the National Associations work (NA);
  • Ensure the operational effectiveness of all programmes and guarantee  quality according to the organizations defined standards;
  • Ensure the implementation of child safeguarding principles in the NA;
  • Ensure the effective and sustainable management of the NAs financial and other resources;
  • Ensures an efficient performance management and human resource development system that guarantees the development of co-workers and the identification of talents; promotes accountability at all levels of the NA;
  • Promote and manage an appropriate image of the organization both internally and externally, using NGO values and standards as the basis for shaping the brand;
  • Promotes long-term stability and financial self-sufficiency by pursuing support from government and private sources with the aim to maximize the fundraising potentiall;
  • Implements and monitors the internal control system;
  • Establishes sound relationships with relevant government authorities, ensures appropriate representation of the organizations views, and seeks government recognition and support for NGO work;
  • Builds partnerships with non-governmental organizations that work for the rights of children;
  • Supports the development and implementation of sustainable fundraising strategies and grant applications;
  • Supports public relations/marketing activities as necessary and ensures that an appropriate image of the organization is portrayed;
  • Fosters a professional relationship and maintains close cooperation with the Regional Office as well as with other units in the General Secretariat; receives guidance, support, and monitoring with respect to international standards (from Regional Office); provides specified reports and acts on agreements.

In the framework of child protection policy:

  • Responsible for implementation and management of  Child Protection Policy in NA and for reporting to the National Board;
  • Responsible for leading the CS team at the national level;
  • Ensures that co-workers and programs do no cause harm to children and young people and that they are not exposed to the risk of harm and abuse;
  • Responsible to report any concerns the organization has about childrens safety in its programs and within the communities to the appropriate authorities;
  • Ensures that co-workers act within national law, Child Protection Policy, Code of Conduct, and other child safeguarding requirements;
  • Ensures confidentiality and sharing of information as needed.

Requirements for the position:

  • University degree in business administration, education, social science discipline, or similar;
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience at a senior management/executive level in a larger or more complex organization;
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following functional areas: fundraising, marketing, human resources, finance/budgeting, social services provision, community development;
  • Experienced in strategy development, change management, and driving innovation;
  • English language fluency in addition to the national language;
  • Readiness to travel nationally and internationally as required.
