For our client in Toronto a trusted, licensed Ontario general contractor specializing in restoration, renovation, and high-rise residential projects, including building envelope upgrades, façade rehabilitation, structural repairs, and interior/exterior refurbishments.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to support the successful delivery of high-rise residential, commercial, and institutional restoration and renovation projects. This role is critical in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, coordinating with project teams and subcontractors, and ensuring all bids are aligned with budgets, timelines, and regulatory standards. The position requires strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to work under deadlines while ensuring alignment with budgets, timelines, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

    • Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for restoration and renovation projects (façade, balconies, garages, waterproofing, interior refurbishments, etc.).

    • Perform quantity take-offs and apply cost data for labour, materials, and equipment.

    • Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure scope coverage and competitive pricing.

    • Prepare comprehensive bid packages, proposals, and tender submissions in collaboration with senior management.

    • Maintain and update historical cost data, unit pricing, and subcontractor performance records for future use.

    • Support Project Managers by providing cost breakdowns, clarifying scope assumptions, and identifying risks or value-engineering opportunities.

    • Track bid progress and ensure timely delivery of all required documentation.

    • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and liaise with stakeholders to validate scope and estimate accuracy.

    • Stay up to date with market conditions, construction methods, and restoration best practices.

    • Ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code, safety requirements, and project specifications when preparing estimates.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in estimating, preferably in restoration, renovation, or high-rise residential construction.

  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and restoration techniques (building envelope, waterproofing, concrete, masonry, interior finishes).

  • Proficiency in estimating software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Timberline, or equivalent) and advanced Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a high attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills for engaging with subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple bids under strict deadlines.

  • Health & safety awareness and familiarity with documentation requirements.

Education & Certifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Construction Estimating, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in restoration (e.g., IICRC, Building Envelope courses) are considered an asset.
