Job Overview
The Purchasing Director is a leadership position charged with managing the procurement activities for our organization. This role involves developing and implementing purchasing strategies, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring that all procurement activities align with the company's operational and financial goals.
The Purchasing Director is responsible for managing Purchasing Specialists who have the following duties:
1) To carry out planning and ordering from suppliers for various products to avoid stock shortages.
2) To follow up on orders with suppliers to ensure that they arrive on time.
3) To plan transportation (for imports) and to request quotes from various transportation providers for the best price.
4) To enter all purchase orders with the relevant deadlines from suppliers into the financial system so that sales can reserve in advance.
5) To follow up with information from the problem sector, products that come out with defects from suppliers and to seek solutions for compensation or replacement.
6) To open new codes in case of supplies for non-existent products.
7) Perform a preliminary check of physical invoices from suppliers to see if they have errors before they are released to the finance department.
8) In the long term*: Negotiate with different suppliers for current products to get the best price.
The idea is that the role of the manager should be able to perform these actions but will not perform operational work such as issuing invoices but will supervise the work of office operators in a Macro perspective,
The main tasks of the Purchasing Director will be:
- Optimization of the range to increase the profitability of the categories and consequently the total profitability of the company;
- Stock forecasts at the level of main categories so as not to exceed the predetermined maximum limits of the warehouse and avoid gaps in different categories;
- Monitor stock aging and perform a planning role for proactively setting prices and offers to maintain optimal stock turnover. Negotiate and search for new products and trends at trade fairs for the company as well as negotiate the best prices for container transportation;
Purchasing Director Qualifications & Skills
- Master's degree in Business Administration, or related field;
- Extensive experience in a senior procurement role;
- Strong understanding of market dynamics and procurement best practices;
- Proven track record of successful supplier negotiations;
- Experience with procurement software and ERP systems;
- Advanced analytical and decision-making skills;
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements;
- Minimum of 5 -10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management;
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage vendor relationships;
- Up-to-date knowledge of purchasing practices and market conditions;
