                                       Aviation English Instructor (AEI)

12.1. Job Highlights:

The AEI provides specialised English language training tailored to the AHFS trainees, focusing on communication skills essential for safe and effective aviation operations. This role supports trainees in mastering NATO standard phraseology, radiotelephony procedures, and operational fluency in English for both domestic and international missions.

12.2. Key responsibilities:

12.2.1. Deliver structured Aviation English lessons aligned with ICAO Language Proficiency Requirements (LPR).

12.2.2. Teach standard radiotelephony phraseology and aviation vocabulary etc.

12.2.3. Prepare trainees for ICAO English proficiency testing and internal military assessments.

12.2.4. Develop and adapt curriculum and materials aligned with military aviation standards with the needed focus on main aviation English aspects: Radio communication, aviation terminology, aviation safety, weather reports, flight planning, emergency communication, aviation publications (Jeppesen, OEM manuals and bulletins) etc.

12.2.5. Collaborate with flight and ground instructors to integrate the language training.

12.2.6. Assess student progress through oral exams, and scenario-based evaluations.

12.2.7. Provide individualised support to cadets with language challenges.

12.2.8. Maintain accurate records of student performance and proficiency levels.

12.2.9. Promote clear, concise, and confident communication under pressure.

12.3. Threshold Conditions:

12.3.1. ESL or TEFL/TESOL certification (required).

12.3.2. Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or related field (preferred).

12.3.3. Experience in aviation or knowledge of aviation operations (preferred).

12.3.4. ICAO rater/interlocutor certification (preferred but not mandatory).

12.3.5. Strong command of spoken and written English.

12.3.6. Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.

12.3.7. Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles.

12.3.8. Familiarity with ICAO Doc 9835 and aviation phraseology.

12.3.9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

12.3.10. Passion for teaching and mentoring aviation students.

12.3.11. Flexibility, patience, and a collaborative spirit.

12.3.12. English proficiency level C2.
