About the Opportunity

The Hammitt Group is conducting a confidential search for a Plant Manager on behalf of a growing manufacturer operating in a highly regulated industry.

This leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, including production, maintenance, and technical support functions. The Plant Manager will drive operational excellence, improve manufacturing performance, and lead teams in achieving safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in regulated manufacturing environments, a track record of leading high-performing teams, and experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all manufacturing operations to achieve goals related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and other functional teams to ensure operational alignment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, throughput, labor productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable quality systems, regulatory requirements, and manufacturing standards.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing principles and operational excellence methodologies.
  • Develop labor plans, staffing forecasts, and production strategies to support business objectives.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability to production supervisors and manufacturing personnel.
  • Partner with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure adherence to product specifications and manufacturing documentation.
  • Evaluate manufacturing methods, facility layouts, workflows, and equipment utilization to improve performance.
  • Analyze workforce requirements and production capacity to support growth initiatives.
  • Participate as a key member of the site leadership team.
  • Mentor and develop employees through training, performance management, and succession planning.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop manufacturing teams.
  • Conduct performance reviews and employee development planning.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning activities.
  • Manage employee relations and performance issues as needed.
  • Participate in compensation and salary planning processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 8+ years of manufacturing leadership experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading production teams and driving operational improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kanban, Visual Management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience managing production, maintenance, and technical operations in a manufacturing facility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within medical device, life sciences, pharmaceutical, aerospace, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working within FDA-regulated and/or ISO-certified operations.
  • Six Sigma certification or formal continuous improvement training is a plus.

Travel

  • Limited travel (less than 15%).
