Position Overview

The GOR Group is partnering with a client to hire two experienced Estimators supporting hyperscale data center construction and mission-critical infrastructure projects.

The Estimator will prepare, analyze, and develop project cost estimates for low-voltage structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber infrastructure. This position will collaborate with project managers, engineers, field operations, procurement teams, and vendors to develop accurate and competitive estimates that support successful project delivery and profitability.

These are permanent, direct-hire positions with The GOR Group's client. The GOR Group will manage candidate sourcing, screening, and interview coordination in partnership with the client's hiring team. All hiring decisions and employment relationships are solely owned and managed by the client.

Available Openings

U.S. Remote

  • Remote within the United States, with a preference for candidates located near Plano, Texas
  • Travel up to 15%, primarily to the client's headquarters in Plano
  • The first week of employment will be onsite at the Plano headquarters for introductions, orientation, and training

Holly Ridge, Louisiana

  • Onsite position in Holly Ridge, Louisiana
  • Candidates who are not local must commit to working onsite for a minimum of two weeks each month
  • Employees who work fully onsite may be eligible for additional site incentive bonuses and a daily per diem
  • Incentive and per diem details will be reviewed during site orientation
  • Candidates relocating to the area will have access to a housing coordination team for assistance securing local accommodations

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of materials, labor projections, and cost-control documentation for hyperscale data center projects.
  • Estimate low-voltage structured cabling scopes, including copper and fiber infrastructure.
  • Review RFPs and RFIs to identify project requirements, risks, assumptions, and pricing considerations.
  • Prepare and submit competitive bids, proposals, and supporting estimating documentation.
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, construction specifications, and scope documents.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for structured cabling, electrical, and mechanical systems supporting data center environments.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, field operations, procurement teams, and vendors to validate material quantities, labor rates, equipment costs, and vendor quotations.
  • Develop and maintain bills of materials for project bids and awarded work.
  • Analyze change orders to validate scope adjustments and determine associated cost impacts.
  • Maintain historical cost data, unit pricing, labor information, and vendor rate databases.
  • Ensure estimates comply with project specifications, internal standards, safety requirements, and client expectations.
  • Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings to gather technical, logistical, and site-specific information.
  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Manage multiple estimates, deadlines, and project priorities simultaneously.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience estimating low-voltage structured cabling projects, including copper and fiber systems.
  • Direct exposure to hyperscale data center projects.
  • Experience supporting RFP and RFI processes, bid preparation, and proposal submissions.
  • Experience developing cost controls, bills of materials, labor estimates, and change-order pricing.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform takeoffs for structured cabling and related electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and cabling systems used in mission-critical facilities.
  • Familiarity with BICSI standards and data center design concepts.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, Accubid, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong numerical accuracy, analytical ability, and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, procurement, and project delivery teams.
  • Flexibility to work varying days and hours based on project demands.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Knowledge of Division 27 construction specifications and inside plant structured cabling environments.
  • Experience estimating large-scale or hyperscale data center infrastructure projects.
  • Experience comparing vendor bids and maintaining cost-control or historical pricing systems.
  • Familiarity with Revit, Trimble, PlanSwift, or construction scheduling software.
