Job Openings Director of Quality & Lifecycle Services

About the job Director of Quality & Lifecycle Services

The GOR Group has partnered with a leading provider of mission-critical infrastructure solutions seeking a Director of Quality & Lifecycle Services to lead quality assurance, lifecycle support, commissioning readiness, turnover management, and warranty services across modular and prefabricated data center projects.

This executive leadership role is responsible for ensuring every modular data center (MDC) is complete, compliant, operationally ready, and fully supported from factory production through installation, commissioning, owner turnover, startup, and ongoing operation.

The Director of Quality & Lifecycle Services will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, project delivery, commissioning teams, contractors, vendors, and customers to identify deficiencies, assign accountability, drive corrective actions, and ensure issues are resolved efficiently and completely.

This position is intentionally independent from engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and project management functions to ensure quality standards, operational readiness, and customer interests remain objective and are not compromised by schedule or cost pressures.

Position Overview

The Director of Quality & Lifecycle Services will be responsible for ensuring each delivered system is complete, compliant, operationally ready, and fully supported throughout the full product lifecycle. This individual will own the quality governance process across Factory Acceptance Testing, punch-list management, installation readiness, commissioning deficiency closure, turnover signoff, warranty claims, and post-startup issue resolution.

This role will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Project Delivery, Commissioning, vendors, contractors, and customers to identify deficiencies, assign accountability, drive corrective action, and ensure issues are closed quickly and completely.

The position is intentionally independent from Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project Management to ensure quality, readiness, and customer protection remain objective and are not compromised by schedule or cost pressure.

Key Responsibilities

Quality, Testing and Readiness

  • Develop and maintain Factory Acceptance Testing standards, procedures, checklists, and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate testing and quality activities with engineering, manufacturing, vendors, and customer representatives.
  • Confirm each system is complete and ready for formal testing prior to shipment.
  • Identify, document, and track deficiencies through formal punch-list processes.
  • Approve or reject readiness for shipment, commissioning, and final turnover based on established quality standards.
  • Maintain complete quality, testing, and turnover records for each delivered system.

Factory and Site Quality Oversight

  • Maintain a consistent quality presence across factory production and active project sites.
  • Inspect workmanship, equipment installation, completion status, and required documentation.
  • Identify incomplete, damaged, deficient, or nonconforming work.
  • Track recurring defects, quality trends, and systemic issues.
  • Require corrective action when issues are repeated or impact product readiness.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and project delivery teams to resolve quality issues.

Punch-List and Commissioning Deficiency Management

  • Develop and maintain formal factory and site punch lists for each project.
  • Assign ownership, corrective action requirements, due dates, completion locations, and verification requirements for each open item.
  • Ensure accountability is maintained as open items move from factory production to site completion.
  • Track commissioning deficiencies through closure and required retesting.
  • Escalate issues that impact safety, reliability, redundancy, capacity, performance, or owner acceptance.
  • Verify critical deficiencies are resolved before commissioning milestones and final turnover.

Warranty and Lifecycle Support

  • Serve as the central intake point for warranty claims and post-startup customer issues.
  • Determine responsible parties and coordinate investigation, repair, replacement, technical support, and corrective action.
  • Track warranty response times, completion status, customer impact, and cost exposure.
  • Escalate slow or unresponsive vendors, contractors, or suppliers as needed.
  • Monitor early-life product performance and coordinate response to failures, alarms, recurring problems, and operational issues.
  • Feed lessons learned into engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and future product standards.

Root Cause and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead root-cause analysis for major, recurring, or high-impact quality failures.
  • Ensure corrective actions address underlying causes rather than symptoms.
  • Assign corrective-action ownership and track implementation through verified completion.
  • Maintain a lessons-learned and recurring-defect database.
  • Report major quality, warranty, and lifecycle trends to executive leadership.
  • Develop scalable quality and lifecycle processes that support future growth.

Team Leadership

The Director of Quality & Lifecycle Services will initially lead a small, highly responsive team supporting factory quality, site quality, warranty claims, and lifecycle service. The organization is expected to grow based on production volume, project activity, geographic coverage, and warranty demand.

  • Factory Quality Manager and/or Factory Quality Specialist
  • Site Quality Manager and/or Site Quality Specialist
  • Warranty & Lifecycle Manager, Warranty Claims Specialist, or Lifecycle Coordinator

Authority

This leader will have the authority to reject nonconforming work, stop or delay testing, prevent shipment, prevent commissioning from beginning, prevent owner turnover, require retesting, escalate vendor or contractor failures, require root-cause analysis, and assign issue ownership with completion deadlines.

Conditional progression may be approved only when an issue is noncritical, ownership is assigned, the completion plan is documented, and the risk is clearly understood and accepted by the appropriate executive leadership.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in quality, commissioning, lifecycle services, manufacturing, project delivery, operations, mission-critical infrastructure, industrial systems, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience supporting complex engineered products from production through installation, commissioning, turnover, warranty, and operation.
  • Strong understanding of Factory Acceptance Testing, punch-list governance, commissioning readiness, closeout documentation, and warranty response.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability across internal teams, vendors, contractors, and customer stakeholders.
  • Experience leading small, high-impact teams in fast-paced technical environments.
  • Background in data center infrastructure, modular construction, electrical systems, mechanical systems, industrial manufacturing, EPC, or design-build environments preferred.

Leadership Profile

The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically credible, detail-oriented, objective, and customer-focused. They must be firm but collaborative, comfortable challenging internal teams and external partners, and highly effective at assigning accountability and driving issues to closure.

This person should be able to identify recurring patterns across multiple projects and prevent unresolved issues from being lost between factory production, site installation, commissioning, turnover, and operation.

Core Accountability

The Director of Quality & Lifecycle Services is responsible for ensuring every product delivered by GOR Group's client is complete, tested, documented, operationally ready, and fully supported from factory production through owner operation. This role owns FAT governance, punch-list accountability, installation and turnover signoff, commissioning-deficiency closure, warranty management, post-startup quality response, and continuous improvement.
