This Opportunity:

The role of the Senior Project Manager is to serve as an ambassador for Company and is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of multiple projects of various sizes. The Senior Project Manager leads, directs, and manages a team of project resources to deliver value and exceptional results to our clients. This position proactively develops the continuation of opportunities through fostering strong relationships and project delivery excellence.

  • Exempt Salaried position based upon experience
  • Location: Fully Onsite at a Client Site in Dekalb, IL
  • Travel expectations - up to 15%

  • Leads and manages assigned project management team members.
  • Investigate any potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures within company guidelines, and under supervision.
  • Manage assigned projects in accordance with schedule that supports favorable performance indexing that meets or exceeds the expectations of the project plan.
  • Effectively manage subcontractor / vendor performance to ensure compliant project delivery.
  • Provide progress updates, reports, and performance metrics.
  • Manages installation strategies to ensure industry best practices, means and methods are leveraged to complete the project on schedule and within budget.
  • Responsible for ensuring project deliverables are completed timely, efficiently, and correctly.
  • Accountable for the financial performance of assigned projects and expected to manage all costs against planned budgets.
  • Oversees and presents project cost reports as required or requested within defined timelines.
  • Manages organizational resources to control variables that contribute to project costs such as labor, materials, and equipment in order to comply with project schedules and budgets.
  • Cultivate and foster positive relationships with teammates, customers, and vendors to maintain, secure and expand business opportunities.
  • Develop resource plans and evaluate needs in conjunction with project requirements.
  • Partners with internal and external teams to provide subject matter expertise related to estimating, construction feasibility and value engineering.
  • Embraces and leverages companies construction technology platforms, automation, and software to drive safety, quality, efficiencies, and cost savings.
  • Fosters an innovative mindset that empower employees to seek out unique and applicable solutions for existing challenges that provide opportunities to optimize processes.
  • Encourages and supports continuous improvement activities and Lean initiatives across the site to align with strategic goals.
  • Anchors training programs to effectively develop employees and drive workforce continuity.
  • Leads by example.
  • Provide opportunities for technical and professional development through internal training and industry certification courses.

Needs for Success:

  • Decision making and judgment: The position involves projects and/or assignments requiring considerable decision-making authority regarding procedures, plans and schedules.
  • Must be proficient and well-practiced in leveraging information and data in making informed decisions.
  • Deep understanding of industry specific estimating and engineering best practices.
  • Ability to identify change events and implement change management best practices.
  • Knowledge of various construction technology platforms, quality, and safety standards.
  • Solid understanding of construction accounting principles and cost forecasting.
  • Able to report and read out project information to all stakeholders as needed or required.
  • Working knowledge of the PMBOK Guidelines and Standards.
  • Ability to develop and manage project schedules.
  • Advanced project management and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.
  • Demonstrated coaching, team building and conflict resolution skills.

What you bring to the table: 

Education & Experience

  • AAS or BS in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related field (relevant field experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • 8+ years of progressive construction experience in leadership roles, with a strong focus on structured cabling, low voltage, and/or data center construction
  • Proven track record managing large-scale, multi-million-dollar projects across mission critical environments (new builds and retrofits preferred)
  • Experience managing large field teams (50–100+ personnel), including both direct labor and subcontractors

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Strong experience working directly with clients and General Contractors in active construction environments
  • Confident representing the company in site meetings, clearly communicating project progress, risks, and execution strategy
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships while driving project outcomes

Scheduling & Coordination

  • Comfortable leading 5-week lookaheads and driving schedule accountability across teams
  • Skilled in coordinating labor, materials, and installation sequencing within active data center builds
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams in fast-paced, high-demand environments

Safety Leadership

  • Safety-first mindset with experience operating in highly regulated construction environments
  • Proven ability to enforce and manage safety standards across large field teams, including union labor
  • Strong understanding of OSHA requirements and site safety protocols

Technical Expertise

  • Strong BICSI foundation with deep understanding of structured cabling and low-voltage systems
  • Hands-on knowledge of fiber conveyance, pathways, backbone infrastructure, and connectivity
  • Familiarity with industry-leading manufacturer products and mission critical infrastructure standards

Union Environment Experience

  • Experience working within union environments, particularly with IBEW labor
  • Comfortable managing both union and non-union teams, including subcontractor coordination

Leadership Scope

  • Experience overseeing complex team structures including Project Managers, Construction Managers, and field technicians
  • Expected to lead a team of 70+ personnel on-site, including 60+ technicians in active deployment

Project Delivery Experience

  • Well-versed in multiple contracting and delivery methods: lump sum, GMP, cost-plus, unit rate, design-build, and T&M

Certifications

  • OSHA 30 required (must obtain within first 6 months if not already certified)
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) – highly preferred
  • BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) – preferred
  • BICSI RTPM (Registered Telecommunications Project Manager) – a plus

Supervisory Responsibility: This position will have direct reports.
