Program Director - Liquid Cooling – Mission Critical Data Centers

Build the Future of Data Center Cooling

We are partnering with a Mission Critical organization seeking an experienced Director of Liquid Cooling to build and lead a new liquid cooling organization supporting mission-critical and high-density data center environments. This is a unique opportunity for a proven liquid cooling expert to establish a capability from the ground up and become the organization's senior technical authority for liquid cooling.

The Director will work directly with clients, engineering teams, OEMs, contractors, and data center operators to support liquid cooling solutions from design and technology selection through installation, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and optimization.

This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who combines deep technical expertise with the ability to build teams, develop managers, establish processes, and create scalable solutions for rapidly evolving data center cooling requirements.

What You'll Do

Build & Lead the Liquid Cooling Organization

Develop and execute the strategy for building a comprehensive liquid cooling capability.
Establish the organizational structure, processes, standards, and operating model for the function.
Recruit, develop, and lead managers, engineers, supervisors, technicians, and field personnel.
Establish training, competency, certification, and career development programs.
Build a scalable organization capable of supporting multiple client sites and projects.

Provide Technical Leadership

Serve as the organization's senior liquid cooling subject matter expert.
Provide technical leadership across the entire liquid cooling lifecycle.
Support clients and project teams with technology selection, design reviews, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
Develop technical standards, procedures, testing protocols, and best practices.
Evaluate emerging liquid cooling technologies and determine their applicability to client environments.

Support Mission-Critical Data Centers

Provide technical oversight for technologies including:

Direct-to-chip liquid cooling
Cold plate systems
Cooling Distribution Units (CDUs)
Rear-door heat exchangers
Immersion cooling
Primary and secondary cooling loops
Pumps, valves, piping, and manifolds
Heat exchangers
Leak detection
Water treatment and water chemistry
Controls, BMS, and DCIM

Commissioning & Operations

Establish liquid cooling commissioning and startup standards.
Support pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, flow verification, controls testing, and system performance validation.
Develop MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, checklists, and troubleshooting procedures.
Establish preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
Lead technical resolution of complex cooling and reliability issues.

Client & Industry Leadership

Serve as a senior technical advisor to strategic clients.
Partner with data center owners, hyperscalers, engineering firms, contractors, OEMs, and commissioning authorities.
Build strategic relationships with liquid cooling technology providers and equipment manufacturers.
Support proposals, technical presentations, solution development, and business growth.
Identify opportunities to expand liquid cooling services and capabilities.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a liquid cooling expert and organizational builder who can move comfortably between executive-level strategy and hands-on technical problem solving.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience in data centers, mission-critical infrastructure, liquid cooling, mechanical systems, or a related technical environment.
Significant hands-on knowledge of liquid cooling technologies and high-density data center environments.
Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and developing managers and technicians.
Experience building or scaling a technical organization, business unit, or service capability.
Strong understanding of data center mechanical and cooling infrastructure.
Experience with commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, or operations of mission-critical systems.
Ability to interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
Experience working with data center owners/operators, hyperscalers, engineering firms, contractors, OEMs, or commissioning organizations.
Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and client-facing skills.
Ability and willingness to travel to client and project sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience supporting hyperscale, AI, HPC, or high-density computing environments.
Experience with direct-to-chip, CDU, rear-door heat exchanger, or immersion cooling technologies.
Experience developing liquid cooling standards, procedures, or training programs.
Experience building a technical services organization from the ground up.
PE, CEM, CxA, or other relevant industry certification.
