COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Our client offers comprehensive end-to-end solutions, with services spanning scrap metal brokering, warehousing, shipping, foundry melting, and more. They are looking for an Imports Controller to join their team as soon as possible.

JOB DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

To manage and coordinate the full import process, ensure timely clearance, accurate documentation, and cost-effective delivery of goods. The Imports Controller will work closely with suppliers and internal departments while utilising the Shipshape system to track and manage shipments.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Frame & submit EDI Bills of Entry for Imports/Exports (Sea freight, Road freight & Rail) to SARS within the prescribed period in accordance with the SARS Act
• Submission of cargo dues via Shipshape or relevant shipping line/port systems
• Framing of Ex-bond entries (WE, WH, XDP, XRW, XE, XIB, RIB, RIT)
• Ensure accurate tariff heading determination and correct duty application
• Processing of VOC's, customs refunds and acquittals
• Knowledge and handling of breakbulk and bulk shipments
• Handle all customs stops, SAPS and Border Police processes until cargo is released
• Application and processing of import/export permits with relevant authorities
• Bond store control and monitoring
• Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete and compliant with customs requirements
• Liaise with clients, shipping lines, transporters and clearing agents regarding shipment status and requirements
• Ensure timely clearance and delivery of all shipments

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12
• Relevant post matric qualification beneficial

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Minimum 2–3 years' experience in imports / customs clearing
• Experience working on the Shipshape system
• Strong knowledge of Customs & Excise requirements
• Programs: MS Office and Shipshape
• May require occasional overtime depending on shipment schedules
