Position Overview
A large, integrated healthcare system is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead Labor and Delivery operations at a high-volume obstetric unit. The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader who thrives in a fast-paced maternal-newborn environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes and staff development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational and clinical leadership for the Labor and Delivery unit on a 24/7 basis
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure safe patient care delivery
- Lead, coach, and develop nursing staff through performance management and professional development initiatives
- Oversee quality metrics, patient safety programs, and regulatory compliance (TJC, state)
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary team members to advance maternal-newborn outcomes
- Manage unit budget including labor cost control and supply utilization
- Drive implementation of evidence-based practices and obstetric safety bundles
Requirements
- Active RN license in California (or compact licensure eligible)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN preferred
- 3+ years of clinical nursing experience in Labor and Delivery
- 2+ years of nursing leadership or management experience
- Current BLS, NRP, and ACLS certifications
Preferred Qualifications
- MSN or graduate degree in nursing or healthcare administration
- RNC-OB or C-EFM certification
- Experience in a Magnet-designated or large health system setting
- Familiarity with Epic clinical documentation
