Pay Rate: $131,000 to $156,000 per year

Position Overview
A leading regional healthcare provider known for patient-centric care is seeking an experienced NICU Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to join their neonatal intensive care team in Houston, Texas. This is a high-impact clinical role providing direct pharmacy services to critically ill neonates in a complex, fast-paced intensive care environment. The ideal candidate brings specialized residency training in pediatrics or critical care combined with hands-on NICU pharmacy experience and a deep commitment to optimizing outcomes for the most vulnerable patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical pharmacy services to critically ill neonates across the NICU daily
  • Collaborate with neonatologists and interdisciplinary care teams to optimize pharmacotherapy plans
  • Perform medication reconciliation, neonatal dosing calculations, and ongoing therapeutic monitoring
  • Evaluate and implement evidence-based medication protocols specific to neonatal populations
  • Identify and resolve drug therapy problems to improve patient safety and clinical outcomes
  • Precept pharmacy students and PGY1/PGY2 residents rotating through the NICU
  • Participate in quality improvement, formulary management, and regulatory compliance activities

Requirements
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited institution
  • Completion of PGY2 residency in Pediatrics required; PGY2 in Critical Care with current NICU experience may be considered
  • Active NICU clinical pharmacy experience
  • Current Texas Pharmacy license in good standing
  • Strong working knowledge of neonatal pharmacokinetics and evidence-based neonatal therapeutics
  • Excellent clinical judgment and ability to perform in a high-acuity critical care environment
  • No visa sponsorship available for this position

  • Experience in a related field is preferred
