We are hiring a Laminator Operator I to join a high-volume packaging manufacturing team in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. This position is available on both day and night shifts on a continental schedule, offering competitive pay with additional shift differential for nights. Shift Options & Compensation

Day Shift — Continental A/B Schedule
Hours: 5:45 AM – 6:15 PM
Pay: $21.74/hour ($45,219 annualized)

Night Shift — Continental Schedule
Hours: 5:45 PM – 6:15 AM | 3 days one week, 4 days the next; off every other weekend
Pay: $21.10/hour base + $2.00 shift differential = $23.10/hour effective ($48,048 annualized)

About the Role

The Laminator Operator I reports directly to the Department Manager and is responsible for operating laminating equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining product quality, machine cleanliness, and production standards. This is a hands-on role where attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and consistent performance are essential to success. You will be a key contributor to daily production output and food safety compliance.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Mix adhesive according to established formulas and verify adhesive calculations for each production run
  • Verify first-piece conformance to product specifications before production begins
  • Set up and operate lathe machine according to operating procedures when needed
  • Interpret job orders accurately and maintain consistent production flow
  • Maintain cleanliness of machines, equipment, and surrounding work area to SQF standards
  • Handle hazardous waste using satellite containers in compliance with safety procedures
  • Report quality concerns to manager, supervisor, or group leader for review and correction
  • Report all accidents, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions immediately to shift management
  • Verify required impression rollers; cut or resurface to specifications as needed
  • Add adhesive, change raw material rolls, and manage substrates during operation
  • Operate machine for break coverage as needed
  • Report any food safety violations to management promptly
  • Participate in performance system activities including audits, near-miss reporting, and continuous improvement teams
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership

What We're Looking For

  • At least 1 year of machine operator experience (laminator experience preferred but not required)
  • Experience measuring and working with chemicals
  • Ability to read a ruler or tape measure accurately
  • Solid basic math skills
  • Comfort working in a manufacturing environment that may include dust, chemicals, or varying temperatures
  • Strong attendance, safety, and quality record
