Position Overview
Our client, an established healthcare organization, is seeking a certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist for an onsite, 90-day contract engagement in Nampa, Idaho. The role supports a nuclear medicine department performing diagnostic imaging studies across cardiac, oncologic, skeletal, and general nuclear applications.
This position suits a technologist who is meticulous about radiopharmaceutical handling, patient safety, and image quality. Whether you are seeking your next permanent position or adding cross-system experience, the engagement offers a varied study mix and a clearly bounded commitment.
Key Responsibilities
You will prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to physician orders and established protocols, calculating and verifying doses accurately, documenting administration precisely, and adhering to all licensing and regulatory requirements governing radioactive materials.
You will perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures including cardiac perfusion studies, bone scans, hepatobiliary and renal studies, thyroid uptake and scans, and other diagnostic examinations, positioning patients correctly and acquiring images that meet departmental diagnostic standards.
You will operate gamma cameras and SPECT systems, perform daily and periodic quality-control procedures on imaging equipment and dose calibrators, process and reconstruct image data, and transmit completed studies through PACS for radiologist interpretation.
Radiation safety and regulatory compliance are ongoing responsibilities. You will handle, store, transport, and dispose of radioactive materials in accordance with NRC or Agreement State rules, monitor area and personnel dosimetry, manage radioactive waste decay records, and respond appropriately to any contamination event.
You will coordinate patient scheduling and preparation for nuclear medicine studies, confirming that patients have followed fasting, medication hold, and other preparation instructions, and rescheduling where preparation has not been met rather than compromising study quality. You will also screen for pregnancy and breastfeeding status, provide radiation precaution instructions to patients following administration, and answer patient concerns about radiation exposure clearly and reassuringly.
Requirements
Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist through NMTCB or ARRT (N) is required, along with graduation from an accredited nuclear medicine technology program and any credential required for practice in Idaho.
Prior clinical experience performing nuclear medicine studies in a hospital or imaging center setting is required, along with current BLS certification.
You must demonstrate accurate dose calculation and radiopharmaceutical handling practice, working knowledge of gamma camera and SPECT operation and quality control, competency with PACS, and strong patient communication skills. Reliable onsite availability for the full assignment is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Dual credentialing in nuclear medicine and computed tomography, or PET/CT experience, is strongly preferred. Familiarity with cardiac stress testing protocols and exercise or pharmacologic stress support is valued.
Experience with therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures, prior responsibility for radiation safety recordkeeping, and previous contract or travel technologist experience are all advantageous.
Willingness to participate in call coverage or extended-hours scheduling is valued. Experience coordinating with cardiology for stress testing, comfort placing intravenous access independently, and familiarity with the specific regulatory framework applicable in Idaho are all viewed favorably.
Compensation and Benefits
This engagement pays an hourly rate in the range of $62.86 to $64.86, based on experience and credentials, across a 90-day contract with a defined end date.
