A growing distribution operation in Vernon Hills, IL is seeking an experienced Inventory Control Coordinator to join a newly consolidated, high-volume facility and take ownership of the processes that keep inventory data accurate, reliable, and actionable. This is a role for someone who is detail-oriented by nature, comfortable working with data and systems, and confident taking initiative when discrepancies arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute daily and weekly cycle counts across all product categories and storage locations within the facility
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies identified through cycle counts, system audits, receiving variances, and fulfillment exceptions
- Maintain real-time inventory accuracy by updating records in the warehouse management system and ensuring all product movements are captured correctly
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports for facility management, highlighting variance trends, adjustment activity, and cycle count completion rates
- Coordinate with the receiving team to ensure all inbound shipments are accurately processed, documented, and reflected in inventory within established time standards
- Work closely with the fulfillment and shipping teams to identify and address inventory-related order exceptions before they impact customers
- Conduct root cause analysis on recurring inventory variances and recommend process improvements to prevent future discrepancies
- Support annual physical inventory counts and period-end reconciliation processes, coordinating across departments to ensure smooth execution
- Ensure that all inventory movement documentation is accurate, complete, and filed in accordance with facility record-keeping standards
- Communicate clearly and proactively with supervisors and management regarding inventory status, adjustment approvals, and outstanding discrepancies
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of inventory control, cycle counting, or warehouse operations experience in a distribution, fulfillment, or manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) — experience with data entry, inventory adjustments, and system-generated reporting required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify variance trends and trace discrepancies to root cause
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet tools for tracking, reporting, and data analysis
- Exceptional attention to detail with a demonstrated track record of maintaining inventory accuracy under volume pressure
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional coordination and management reporting
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent tasks without loss of accuracy or urgency
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a related field is preferred
