Pay: $149,000 – $162,000 annually

This position is designed for a strategic tax professional who thrives on delivering tangible financial value to clients through sophisticated Research & Development (R&D) Tax Credit solutions.
As a Tax Manager, you wont just be crunching numbers; you will be the bridge between technical innovation and tax strategy. You will lead multidisciplinary teams across diverse sectors—including Life Sciences, Tech, and Manufacturing—to uncover qualifying activities and maximize tax savings. This role offers a unique blend of technical research, project ownership, and high-level client engagement, providing the visibility and autonomy needed to accelerate your professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Oversee the full lifecycle of R&D tax credit studies, ensuring high-quality delivery, technical accuracy, and adherence to deadlines.
- Strategic Consulting: Visit client facilities to analyze operations, gather financial data, and identify qualifying R&D activities through direct observation and interviews.
- Technical Excellence: Conduct deep-dive research into federal and state regulations and tax rulings; prepare comprehensive cost lead schedules and supporting documentation.
- Reporting & Compliance: Draft sophisticated technical reports summarizing findings and ensuring all documentation meets rigorous firm and regulatory standards.
- Business Development: Partner with leadership to support proposal preparation and identify new opportunities within existing and prospective client accounts.
Must Haves / Requirements Summary
- Professional Licensure: Must hold an Active CPA or JD with an active attorneys license.
- Experience: 6–10 years of focused experience in R&D tax credits, tax accounting methods, or fixed asset consulting.
- Public Accounting Background: At least 4 years of experience within a public accounting or specialized consulting environment.
- Project Management: Proven track record of managing multiple complex engagements and deadlines simultaneously.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of federal R&D tax credit rules, relevant tax court cases, and tax return mechanics (including amendments).
- Communication: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate complex tax concepts for client leadership.
- Availability: Ability to maintain a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite) and travel to various client locations as needed.
