Job Description:
Systemic Impact Initiative (SII) (A philanthropic organisation being incubated by TCF)
Current non-profit landscape is primarily linear / non-systemic
India’s nonprofit landscape is vast, with over 3.3 million NGOs, more than 75% of which focus on direct service delivery in communities. While this grassroots approach is essential, the real challenge lies in the missing middle the gap between grassroots implementers and policymakers, which limits the scalability and effectiveness of social interventions. The government, as a central player, currently allocates around 8-9% of its GDP (~25 lakh crore) to social sector funding. There is a clear need for more patient capital that invests in organizations acting as connectors and facilitators, bridging the gap between NGOs and government to strengthen collaboration and amplify impact. To foster more sustainable, systemic change, it’s crucial to strengthen the interactions between these three pillars non-profits, government, and funding creating a more cohesive and impactful ecosystem.
Systemic Support Organisations (SSOs): A new cadre of non-profits in India
The systems change approach focuses on addressing the root causes of complex social issues rather than just treating symptoms. A Systemic Support Organization (SSO) works alongside the government to drive large-scale impact by testing new ideas, building strong evidence, and advocating for the integration of these solutions into government policies.
Vision for 2030: Build 100 SSOs, 20 systemic philanthropists and 200 changemakers in the government in India
The ultimate goal of this organisation should be to establish 100 Systemic Support Organizations (SSOs), cultivate 20 systemic philanthropists, and empower 200 changemakers within the government in India by 2030. To realize this vision, the focus is on incubating an organisation which will work across three essential pillars: non-profits, government, and funding, each playing a vital role in fostering systemic change.
