India Leaders for Social Sector (ILSS) is a non-profit that aims to be Indias preeminent leadership development organization for the social sector. We aim to increase the effectiveness of the top 500 nonprofits in the sector by 2x to create catalytic impact at scale. Overview to achieve the mission, ILSS has a three-pronged approach:

  • Bringing corporate talent into leadership and board positions in the social sector
  • Running well-researched capacity-building programs in critical domains for the social sector
  • Building the social sector ecosystem to instill a strong focus on high-quality talent/talent development

ILSS operates through five core areas Governance, Talent, Digital Transformation, Fundraising, and Leadership development its four Centres of Excellence and the People Practices Program:

  • Centre of Excellence for Leadership: Develops future leaders through programs like the Leadership Program, Emerging Women Leaders Program, and Young Leaders Program, along with mentorship and thought leadership forums.
  • Centre of Excellence for Board & Governance: Enhances governance practices with training modules, advisory services, and programs such as the Board Leadership Program and Board Governance Program.
  • Centre of Excellence for Fundraising: Supports fundraising professionals with resources, training, and networking through the ILSS Fundraising Program
  • Centre of Excellence for Digital Transformation: Empowers SPOs to drive catalytic impact at scale by crafting their own digital transformation journey, through a holistic understanding of the art of the possible with digital transformation (DT), industry best practices and expert mentorship.
  • Other Programs and Events: The ILSS People Practices Program enables organisation leaders in the sector to prioritise wholesome people practices, building the organisations capabilities, growth prospects, and sustainability in the long run. ILSS also hosts sector-wide conferences, including the India Fundraising Conference, to foster dialogue and collaboration

Since 2017, ILSS has built a community of more than 900 mid - senior leaders and have worked across more than 400 social purpose organisations. 

Role Overview

As the Senior Human Resources Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading the HR function. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of HR operations, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation, and benefits. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in HR roles, delivering against strategic and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Work with the leadership team to Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs aligned with the companys goals and objectives.

2. Lead the recruitment and onboarding process, including sourcing, interviewing, selection, and orientation of new employees.

3. Drive initiatives to promote employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.

4. Design and deliver on the Performance Management system, including training and development programs to enhance employee skills and career growth.

5. Manage employee relations issues, grievances, and investigations, ensuring fair and consistent resolution in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

6. Lead HR analytics and reporting initiatives to track key HR metrics, analyze trend and provide actionable insights to inform decision-making.

Qualifications

  1. Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive work experience (at least 5 years in HR leadership roles) with a demonstrated track record of success..
  • Proven experience in the non-profit, social enterprise, or startup ecosystem is desirable.
